Sweeney: Wants to stay
Millwall winger Peter Sweeney has sent a message to the board and manager Dennis Wise by insisting that he wants to stay at The Den.

Despite turning in a string of impressive performances over the past two months and a call-up to the Scotland "futures" squad, the Under-21 international as yet to be offered a new contract and could leave the club in the summer when his current deal expires.

"Dennis has been brilliant with me and I really feel I've learnt a lot from him," revealed Sweeney on his personal website. "He's given me my chance in the first-team and really encouraged me to work on my game.

"However, despite Dennis' faith in me, I've still not been offered a new deal and I could be forced to leave Millwall when my contract expires at the end of the season. It's playing on my mind a lot, because I'm really enjoying my football at Millwall and all I want to do is stay."

Sweeney, who was one of the many youngsters on show in last season's FA Cup Final, has made twenty-two appearances so far this season, scoring once, and has become a first team regular since returning from injury. His performances have attracted the attention of the likes of Charlton Athletic and Celtic, who have been monitoring his situation closely, but Sweeney is reluctant to move.

"The last thing I want to do is leave this club. It's not as if I'm going to be out of a living because I know there are a few clubs watching me, and I know I can do job; it's just that I want to stay here.

"I think I've done enough to warrant a new contract. I've shown the management I'm good enough to play in the Championship, and that I can be asset to the club. I acknowledge my form has dipped a couple of times during the campaign, but I still think I've shown enough to earn a new deal. I'm disappointed there is currently no offer on the table, but I've got my fingers crossed things will sort themselves out soon."
