Walter Smith's patched-up side lost 2-1 to Austria at the Pappelstadion.

The Lions winger played sixty-five minutes of the game before being replaced in the second half. The match also saw former Millwall loanee Sam Parkin make his Scotland debut, having been a late addition to the side.

Regardless of the result, manager Smith was satisified with the performance from the makeshift side, which featured five additions to the original squad.

"It was always going to be difficult and I thought the first half showed that," he said.

"We were a little bit better in the second half.

"We hit the post, scored and Andy Webster had another good opportunity towards the end, so we might have got back on level terms."
