Millwall midfielder Andy Roberts has been sensationally axed from Dennis Wise's squad after alledgedly sending obscence texts to the wife of Lions captain Kevin Muscat.

Roberts - who had been missing from the Millwall camp for some time - sent the sexually explicit phone messages to Alex Muscat. According to reports in the Sunday newspapers. Muzzy's wife responded to the texts and was afraid to tell her husband until he stumbled on them by accident.

Although she admitted replying to the text messages in secret, it seems the pair never met up or had sexual relations.

The story - which had been doing the rounds on the Millwall messageboards for some weeks - was printed in today's Sunday People and confirmed many fans' suspicions about the Lions midfielder, who is currently in his second spell with the club.

Roberts, whos wife Lee-Anne has just given birth to their first baby, denied sending the texts, but Muscat reported him to the club and manager Dennis Wise.

The club tried to keep the story under wraps in the run-up to last month's FA Cup Final and Roberts was noticeable by his absence on the big day.

Speaking to the newspaper, Wise said: "I'm not prepared to discuss personal details of my team, but there was a meeting with two players.

"I told one of them he had abused the trust of a teammate and they can no longer work together. I asked him to find another club."

Roberts told The People: "I've heard the stories but I've got nothing to say." while former Footballer's Wives star Lee-Anne said: "I've seen the texts and their content certainly wasn't sexual.

"We're enjoying a holiday. Does that look like a family in crisis to you?"

However, Australian international Muscat has refused to comment about the situation.
