The Chairman
Burnige: Not one to be rushed
Millwall Football Club woke up to a new dawn this morning with a new chairman lacking a club captain and team manager but Jeff Burnige will not be looking for a successor to Dennis Wise just yet.

With rumours and counter rumours flying around the web, Burnige has decided to bide his time before selecting a new manager.

"I'm going to take my time over this decision as the relationship between chairman and manager is possibly the most important aspect in the running of the football club", the chairman told the club's official site.

"The club is well thought of in many places, and I'm sure there will be a number of high quality applicants. The selection process will be dealt with in complete confidentiality."

Brentford's Martin Allen, Gary Johnson of Yeovil and Stoke coach David Kemp have all been mentioned as possible candidates along with current youth coach Alan McLeary but as yet, no one has officially applied for the position.

Some more cynical fans at The Den have suggested that Burnige is waiting for the "Early Bird" offer for Season Tickets to pass before appointing Kemp, who is considered to be an early favourite despite being unpopular with the supporters at the club.
