Burnige: Decision expected
Millwall are on the verge of revealing their new manager, six weeks after Dennis Wise resigned.

Former striker Steve Claridge is the favourite to land the job after flying in from Germany for an interview but two as yet unnamed candidates - thought to be Eric Black and Ray Lewington - are also in the running.

Millwall chairman Jeff Burnige confirmed via the club's website that the board will be meeting today to confirm the new manager with an official announcement expected tomorrow.

"I am well aware that this has been a lengthy process", said Burnigie. "But the discussions with a number of interested parties have taken place, for the most part in complete confidentiality.

"And, having conducted the last round of three interviews over the weekend, the board of directors are now scheduled to meet on Monday to make the final decision."

Former Cardiff City boss Lennie Lawrence and ex-Derby County manager George Burley were also linked with the job, but both pulled out of the running last week.
