It has come to light that Millwall's first team squad held a secret "clear-the-air" meeting amongst themselves after The Lions' lost their first home game of the season against Wigan Athletic.

Several members of the squad were upset at the manner of the defeat so arranged a meeting without Dennis Wise or assistant Ray Wilkins present.

"A few home truths came out," revealed striker Daniele Dichio to the South London Press. "People have to stop moping and feeling sorry for themselves

"A few people got the chance to speak. The older ones voiced their concerns about the need to add to the squad. Others expressed their disappointment at the Wigan result. But at the end of the day, we now realise we have to get on and do our jobs."

"We all agreed that there is no way we want to see our heads drop in the same way as they did against Wigan," added Dichio.

"We felt we had let Dennis and Ray down in that game. We respect them and back them as far as anyone can. So we felt we owed it to them - as well as Millwall's loyal and passionate fans - to stop acting like kids.

"If someone has a disagreement on the pitch, that is fine. But that is just the way it is and we should be professional in our approach at all times."

Ray Wilkins, meanwhile, has spoken of the luxury of having a week off, thanks to the Club's involvement in the UEFA Cup.

"We're looking forward to having a free week while other clubs are involved in the Carling Cup. Between now and the end of the month free time is a premium for us and this is most welcome."
