Valencia join Sutton chase

Spanish giants Valencia have joined the race to sign John Sutton from Raith Rovers, according to the BBC Website.

The 20-year-old striker has been a target for the Lions for the past few months and Millwall were favourites to sign the in-form front man, but Sutton's agent, former international Tosh McKinlay, has now confirmed that Valencia are interested in taking the player on trial.

"John has options and it might be too much of a risk for him to go if clubs at home want him now," McKinlay said.

Valencia's Director of football Jesus Garcia Pitarch has also confirmed the Spanish club's interest.

"He has caught the attention of our scouts and we have had him watched several times", said Pitarch.

"He is a young player and we want to sign him before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.

"If we get him John will go straight into our B team with the possibility of a quick step up to the top side."
