Reports in today's Daily Mail suggest that new manager Dennis Wise will be given money to spend on new players, with a transfer fund believed to be in the region of £1 million.

It was first thought that Wisey wouldn't be able to bring in any new faces - except on loan - due the spending of his predecessor, Mark McGhee, at the beginning of the season.

McGhee signed four players at the start of the campaign - Abou Fofana, Kevin Muscat, Bob Peeters and Noel Whelan - in an all-out, ill-fated attempt to gain a head start in the promotion race. But with strikers Neil Harris, Mark McCammon and Whelan now injured, it is believed that Wise is after former Lions loanee Darren Huckerby, who last week tore the Millwall defence apart at Carrow Road.

The new manager will also be on the look-out for a new centre half with both Mark Phillips and Paul Robinson ruled out for the rest of the season.
