Caretaker manager Dennis Wise's red card against Sheffield United on his managerial debut has been rescinded by the footballing authorities after officials studied video evidence.

Wise was shown a straight red in the 87th minute of The Lions clash against The Blades for an alleged two-footed challenge by referee Rob Styles. It came just three minutes after the diminutive midfielder had come on as substitute following David Livermore's sending off for a second yellow card.

However, Wise always maintained his innocence and was backed up by many of the players on the pitch at the time, who could not believe the referee's decision.

He is now free to play against Nottingham Forest at The Den this coming Saturday.
